Stardate..........2012

Some good show results today despite all of the wet weather and mud at today's show.

Watersedge Ur Under Arrest (Kovu), our Finnish Lapphund handled by Melissa De Matos was awarded Runner-Up and Junior in Group. Kovu was 1 of only 4 dogs considered for Best in Group.

Congratulations to this special boy!

Watersedge Maranoa (Marnie) our Australian Kelpie was also 1 of the 4 dogs considered for Best in Group and was eventually awarded Intermediate in Group.

Marnie was 1 of only 2 dogs considered for Intermediate in Show but unfortunately she was unsuccessful.

Marnie seems to be getting the idea of the show ring finally. It is the first time that she has gaited, stood for examination and stood still in the line-up. Usually we manage 2 of the 3 only!

Not to be forgotten, Watersedge Nina Ricci (Prada) obtained her first challenge points today. Thanks to Gordon Anderson for handling her. I think you may have a permanent job now...!

Two very good outcomes from our trip to the vet today!

Grand Ch. Theldaroy Wild Not Me (Laani) underwent surgery this morning to excise the abscess that had been brewing over the weekend. It is always a concern when the older dogs have to undergo an anaesthetic, however Laani has come through without any complications.

She had the remnants of an abscess in under her tongue that I had suspected had ruptured overnight. She had another area along her jawline that upon examination contained an embedded rye grass seed. This is very interesting as we do not have any rye grass.

She is recovering from the anaesthetic and will no doubt be feeling a lot better now that this has also been removed and will hopefully be back to her happy little self in a few days.

Also some very exciting news...

Ch. Watersedge Sno White (Miia) has been confirmed in whelp through ultrasound. There were at least 5 little Lappies visible.

The father of her litter is Watersedge Under SouthernCross (Sven).

Miia is the first cream female Finnish Lapphund to be born in Australia. Her sire is my imported in dam boy - Grand Ch. Watersedge Alias Aleksi (IID) (Aleksi) - and her dam is from the second litter to be born in Australia - Ch. Theldaroy Wild Wild Ways (Chey).

Sven's father is my imported from Sweden boy - Ch. Herding Instinct's Herra Watersedge (Imp SWE) (Markku) and my imported from Finland girl - Ch. Fidelis Haltiatar (Taru).

All in all this will be a lovely litter. It has been a long time in the planning stage.

Another trip to the vet today for Grand Ch. Theldaroy Wild Not Me (Laani) to be examined.

It seems that surgery is inevitable tomorrow. Laani is on painkillers whilst we wait for the abscess to gather up...

Laani's predicament has somewhat overshadowed 1st Birthday Celebrations for Theldaroy KissMe It's Ezy's (Elke) second litter of Finnish Lapphund puppies. The sire was again our imported from Sweden boy Ch. Herding Instinct's Herra Watersedge (IMP SWE) (Markku).

Happy Birthday to Watersedge Giorgio Armani (Klaus), Watersedge Hugo Boss (Reuben), Watersedge Gianni Versace (Finn), Watersedge Paco Rabanne (Erik), Watersedge Coco Chanel (Amber) and of course our very own Watersedge Nina Ricci (Prada).

Sometimes you just have bad days...

Off to a show today and almost missed my call with the dogs.

The only breed I was prepared for was the Australian Kelpies. Watersedge Maranoa (Marnie) obtained more points for her Australian Champion title being awarded the Bitch Challenge. Ch. Engleforest Jarrah (Jarrah) was awarded Reserve Challenge and Runner-Up Best of Breed.

Our Finnish Lapphund Watersedge Ur Under Arrest (Kovu), handled by Melissa De Matos attained the award of Junior In Group at his first show eligible for this age. Well done!

I rarely question the decisions of judges, but today I have to wonder how it is that judges can be so unaware of the breed standards to which they are judging. A lack of consistency was fairly obvious as was the fact that this particular judge was not aware of the finer points of the Finnish Lapphund breed nor of what would be considered a disqualifying fault!

On arriving home, Grand Ch. Theldaroy Wild Not Me (Laani) was very unwell, drooling and unable to open her mouth. A rush to the vet and she was diagnosed with an abscess.

She has been given painkillers and may require surgery tomorrow. My poor little munchkin!

Sydney Royal Day!

This is the first time I have been to the Sydney Royal in over 20 years and the first as an exhibitor. Watersedge was represented by several dogs.

Watersedge Ur Under Arrest (Kovu) handled by Melissa De Matos was awarded 1st place in the Junior Dog class, Watersedge Under SouthernCross (Sven) was awarded 2nd place.

Ch. Herding Instinct's Herra Watersedge (IMP SWE) (Markku) was a very naughty boy but still managed to take 2nd place in the Intermediate Dog class.

Watersedge Under Cover Girl (Rihanna) unfortunately did not make it back from Melbourne for the Junior Bitch class.

Ch. Watersedge Destiny's Child (Beyonce) did not place on the pegs in the Intermediate Bitch Class, however Ch. Watersedge Enchanted Destiny (Raiven) owned by Melissa De Matos and Brian Borg placed 3rd.

It was a very long and tiring day...

Thank you Robyn Sharp and Ryan Meadows for all that you did today. It always is a pleasure to watch you showing the Finnish Lapphunds!

Miss B is home! Miss B is home!

Ch. Watersedge Destiny's Child (Beyonce) is home from her holiday with Robyn Sharp in Melbourne. Robyn has had Beyonce with her since October 2011.

It is an absolute pleasure to have Beyonce home. I have missed her terribly but knew that she was in good hands!

Beyonce had several brushes with paralysis ticks last October and was fortunate to be offered a holiday in Melbourne. In December last year I lost a 9 week old Finnish Lapphund puppy to paralysis tick. Willow was due to go to her new family in Perth the following weekend.

A very happy first Birthday wishes to Poppy's puppies!

It is one year ago today that Ch. Watersedge Alias Anja (Sanni aka Poppy) delivered her first litter of Finnish Lapphunds. The sire of the litter was our lovely imported boy Ch. Herding Instinct's Herra Watersedge (IMP SWE) (Markku).

Many Happy Returns to Watersedge My Guy (Joachim), Watersedge My Kinda Guy (Miiku), Watersedge Song For Guy (Rupert), Watersedge Living Doll (Sheya) and Watersedge Beautiful Doll (Karhu).
